Exam question: Architecture
Research on Julius Shulman
My research is on the photographer Julius Shulman he was born on the 10th of October 1910 and lived in Brooklyn. He produced most of his work in from 1960 to 1990. His photographs where of architecture and different types of building. His style of work was architectural and a lot of black and white images his images were very dramatic it is also geometric and very linear. As well as that the composition of his work was Very busy and contains a lot of buildings. He takes a lot of his photographs at different angles. The thing I like about this photographers work is that it is all very detailed and interesting his images give of the dramatic affect.
I like this photograph because the format of this image this image is portrait and is cluttered. He also uses the rule of thirds to make is images better. He also has a good use of light in his photographs. A lot of his work is Monochromatic this makes his work more dramatic and gives it more depth. He made a wise choice by doing this because it intrigues the viewer. This will influence my work by giving me an idea of how to edit and how to take my images.
Ezra Stoller
Ezra Stoller was born in Chicago on the 16th may 1915 His interest in photography began while he was an architecture student at New York university. I like these images because they have great detail and have a lot of depth to them. He has simple yet effevtive pictures and he also has complex but effective pictures. His photographs all consist of architecture. He uses shape, form as well as composition. He uses black and white and uses great angles. His photographs also consist of different types of lighting as well as using shadow. he also doesn't have any people in his pictures so that the viewer would concentrate on the architecture.
